COVID-19 & Your Music Lessons

KEEPING HEALTHY TOGETHER: A Community Effort
As circumstances change at a rapid pace around the effects of the COVID-19 spread, we here in the Kitchen want to assure our Kitchen Music families that we are thinking carefully about finding a balance between civic/collective responsibility and keeping music instruction as part of your weekly experience wherever possible.
Beginning Sunday March 15th, we will be closed for in-person lessons until April 5th, in line with the Ontario public school closures. We plan to re-open in full on Monday April 6th, and will be ready to adapt to any adjustments required if necessary. We will make any updates on our website and by email to you, and are more than happy to chat with you on the phone.

COMING UP: Make up lessons & online lessons
We are exploring additional options for make-up lessons for our students this spring. We will be offering two options: to arrange make-up lessons during the month of July OR have your music lessons online with us at your currently scheduled times. The online option will be a a great way to keep your musical progress consistent, which is very important!
Equally important, it allows our amazing self-employed music teachers (not eligible for EI) to continue to support their livelihood in these unusual times. And we can all still connect in a safe way.

We’ll be sending out a survey by email to all current students to get your preference on the above options. Keep an eye on your inbox and please take a few seconds to respond. This will help us to serve you better.

What we’ll continue to do when we do open
We maintain enhanced diligence in sanitizing/disinfecting the studio and its surface areas regularly and ongoing. And we will work with teachers on best practices and precautions, including reminding students of the new mandatory hand washing protocol.

The health & safety of our students & community are of the utmost importance to us.
We are monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely and are following the advice of Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer. We are prepared to listen to our medical professionals and will stay updated daily.

On behalf of the Briggs family (Kristin, Steve, Cameron & Duncan) I want to thank you all for choosing Kitchen Music Studios as your musical home and really look forward to having you back in the studio. So wash your hands, don’t touch your face, and most importantly, keep making music! Our world really needs it.

Stay healthy (for) everyone…
